Meet Commissioner Marlene Fosque
An Ordinary Citizen Leading with Extraordinary Results

As an “Ordinary Citizen,” Marlene moved to Lawrenceville in 2003 with her son to improve their quality of life and search for a high school that valued academics, diversity, safety and athletics. They found these ideals in the Collins Hill area of Lawrenceville. Her son, who graduated in 2007, is actively serving in our United States Air Force.

While working at Aetna, Marlene completed her Bachelor of Science in Business Management in 2006 from Shorter University, satellite campus in Gwinnett County. Ten years later, Marlene also completed her Master of Public Administration, with PI Alpha Alpha Honors from Regent University in 2016. Both colleges taught her biblical principles, wisdom and to have compassion with mankind while operating in any form of local, state or federal government. Marlene values strong work ethics, integrity, inclusivity, insight and innovation to any endeavor she embraces.

In 2008, after actively campaigning and canvassing for Barack Obama’s campaign, Marlene felt the desire and passion to become a public service leader. She became a Gwinnett County Elections Poll Assistant Manager and then went on to become an Elections Poll Manager.

Always thinking of others, Marlene completed the Gwinnett County Community Emergency Response Team, (CERT) Program in 2015. Their motto is “Do the greatest good for the greatest number of people.”

Marlene is passionate about Gwinnett County, our citizens, and our overall mission to deliver superior services in partnership with our community.

For the past 3 years, she has been working hard to:

  • Leverage technology through the enhancement and utilization of social media

  • Increase strategic partnerships with community organizations

  • Increase community engagement and champion diversity through citizen service on county boards, authorities, and committees

Gwinnett is a great place to live, work, and play–a place where nearly a million people flourish, prosper, and call home.  She is seeking re-election as your District 4 County Commissioner because she hopes to continue making a positive difference and investing in the future of our county.

We are much better working together.
